The Byrd HSA is proud to particpate in the TIC TOC THEATRE & ART program. TIC TOC is a volunteer organization created to provide fine and performing arts experiences to students through our Art Docent Program and Sunday Afternoon Children’s Theatre Series. Established in 1960, there are currently have 17 member schools in Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park, Fairlawn, and Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ.
Art Docent Program Facts
Art Docent Program sponsors a display of different artwork in participating schools. It is parent volunteers who in turn bring this artwork into the classroom to share with the students. This volunteer opportunity is one of very few times parents get to participate in a classroom activity with their child and classmates. All you have to do is pick an artist, a painting, or even a movement from the collection to bring to your child’s class and have a class discussion about the artwork, do a related craft or activity or a combination of both!
TIC TOC owns over 30 painting collections and 18 special artifact collections that rotate among our member schools. Art Docent volunteers bring this artwork into the classroom to share with the students. Docents can have a class discussion about the artwork, do a related craft or activity, or a combination of both. The possibilities are endless! Parents can sign up as little or as often as they like. Feel free to use your talents in photography, architecture, dance and other artistic fields and present on topics outside of the collections.
